ACC Arrests Woman Who Allegedly Received K880,000.00 Into Her Bank Account

THE Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested a 52-year-old Chingola woman for being in possession of K880,000.00 reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime.
According to a statement issued by ACC spokesperson Queen Chibwe, Ms Sylvia Chongo Mutale Banda of House Number 11 Gandhi Road, Chingola, allegedly received K880,000.00 through First National Bank domiciled at Kitwe Branch, property reasonably suspected of being proceeds of crime.
“Sylvia Chongo Mutale Banda has been arrested and charged with one count of possession of property suspected of being proceeds of crime contrary to Section 71 (1) of the Forfeiture of Proceeds of Crime Act Number 19 of 2010 of the Laws of Zambia,” she said.
It is further alleged that Ms Banda committed the offence between March 1, 2021 and March 31, 2021 in the Kitwe whilst acting with other persons unknown.
“Ms. Banda has since been released on bond and will appear in court soon,” stated Ms Chibwe.
