Arsenal, Manchester & Liver Pool enters the race to sign Patson Daka
ACCORDING to numerous media reports, Arsenal has joined fellow English heavyweights Liverpool and Manchester United in the race to sign Zambia international striker Patson Daka this summer. Liverpool are currently leading the chase, particularly after the player’s impressive recent performance against them.
Daka started in a friendly against Liverpool last week, scoring twice in the first half of a 2-2 draw. The 21-year-old certainly caught the eye against the Premier League champions.
The RB Salzburg man scored 27 goals in all competitions last season, assisting a further 12. He started the campaign behind Erling Haaland, but stepped into the limelight after Haaland’s departure to Borussia Dortmund.
Daka did particularly well post lockdown, directly contributing to 11 goals in 10 games.
You’d think Arsenal would only follow up their interest in the player if they sell Alexandre Lacazette this summer. Assuming the French international remains in North London, the Gunners don’t have the funds to spend big on a striker.
If he leaves, however, Mikel Arteta would probably want to bring a replacement in. A young and exciting striker like Daka could fit the bill nicely.
