BATOKA MAN WHO WENT ON A DRINKING SPREE FOUND DEAD
A man identified as Godfrey Mwanza of Batoka’s Simachenya village was Friday morning found dead after he went missing on Wednesday.
Ekiwe Banda, who is the sister in-law to the deceased tells Byta FM Zambia that Mwanza who is in his early 60s went to drink alcohol on Wednesday but never returned home.
Banda says on Thursday, the family conducted a search in all the drinking places across Batoka township but Mwanza was not found until after they reported the matter to Police and the Village headman.
Banda explains that after the whole village agreed to conduct a search, they found the deceased in a pool of water a few meters from one of the drinking places.
By press time, Police was at the scene collecting the remains with stains of blood on the deceased’s left eye.
And Simachenya Village Secretary Timothy Muleya has called for quick action from the local authority to regulate the closing time of bars.
Muleya says bars are becoming harbors of criminality adding that since December last year, close to five people have been discovered dead in Batoka Township.
