Chishimba Kambwili Acquitted

The Lusaka Magistrate’s Court Court has acquitted former National Democratic Congress president Chishimba Kambwili in a case he was accused of contempt of court.

Magistrate Nsunge Chanda acquitted Kambwili on grounds that the State failed to prove the case against the politician. The lawsuit was filed against Kambwili by Economic and Equity Party president Chilufya Tayali.

Mr Tayali accused Kambwili of allegedly tampering with evidence in a case in which the latter is facing three counts of forgery, uttering false documents and giving false information to a public officer before Lusaka Magistrate David Simusamba.

It was alleged that on March 6, 2018 in Lusaka, Kambwili caused an obstruction or disturbance in the course of judicial proceedings by lodging documents at PACRA.

Kambwili allegedly altered the details and records of Mwamona Engineering and Technical Services which were subject of active judicial proceedings before Magistrate Simusamba.
