Choma grandpas in fist fight

While their fellowed old people in rural provinces such as Luapula spend their nights flying on broomsticks, two old men of the Southern Province town of Choma opted to instead try out some boxing skills on each other.

Andrew Muleya, 83 is said to have punched his 91-year old Lozi cousin, Samson Simusa, with a painful combination of a left hook and a centre uppercut forcing his cousin to accept that ‘mabisi’ and ‘chibwantu’ were indeed more powerful than any hopani.

And the cause of the old people behaving badly was that they were contesting a piece of land which the local chief had warned both to stay off and until he rules who was the true owner of the land.

However, Simusa did not have the patience to wait for the chief’s ruling and went to the land forcing Muleya to throw ‘chimbuya’ aside and engage him; dinosaur to dinosaur!

However, on account of the alleged painful beatings, Simusa reported Muleya to police and he has been arrested and charged with a criminal offence of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm and is appearing before the Choma Magistrate’s Court.

Meanwhile, people have been wondering where Muleya will find the years to spend in jail in case he is jailed in view of his advanced age.
