DEC Arrest King Deza For Trafficking In Codeine

THE Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) on the Copperbelt Province has arrested Kelvin Chama popularly known as King Deza for trafficking in codeine.

The Commission has also arrested Francis Mushuka also known as doctor Muguruse, Anette Mulenga and Lucia Mulenga for trafficking in 7700 Millilitres of codeine, which was found in a bar at King Deza Lodge in Chililabombwe.

DEC public relations officer Mathias Kamanga said in a statement that the commission seized both the drugs and the lodge where the drugs were found.

And the Commission has also arrested 18 people for trafficking in various narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

He further said the Commission has also arrested a suspect for being in possession of 4000 USD counterfeit currency which is contrary to Section 358 of Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

“In Central Province, the Commission has arrested Omely Ngosa, a female aged 63 of Itala Compound in Mkushi for trafficking in 26 Kilograms of loose cannabis.

In a separate incident, a suspect identified as Evans Kunda, a male aged 36 of 16 Miles in Kapiri Mposhi has been arrested for trafficking in 13.64 Kilograms of loose cannabis,” he said.

Meanwhile, another suspect identified as Luckson Mulenga, a male aged 56 of Makululu Road 2 in Kabwe has been arrested for trafficking in 24 tablets of diazepam and 80.5 Grams of loose cannabis.

He said in Lusaka Province, the Commission has arrested Moses Mumba, a male aged 36 for trafficking in 123 bottles of codeine, 196 sachets of heroin and 2.92 Grams of cannabis.

Mr Kamanga said the drugs were concealed in a Mazda Tribute motor vehicle with registration number BAB 3591 which has since been seized.

“In a separate incident, a suspect identified as Martin Imusho, a male of Chirundu District was arrested for trafficking in 199 sachets of heroin and 88.2 Grams of cannabis.Further, another suspect identified as Allan Phiri, a male aged 20 of Chirundu District has been arrested for trafficking in 183 sachets of heroin and 30.1 Grams of cannabis,” he said

Mr Kamanga said the commission has also arrested Titus Mulenga, a male aged 30 of Chiruundu District for trafficking in 134 sachets of heroin and 43.3 grams of cannabis.

“The Commission wishes to express concern on the number of heroin sachets seized from Chirundu, as you may notice the Commission seized over 500 sachets which could indicate that there might be a bigger supplier in the area. We therefore wish to warn members of the public to desist from engaging in drug trafficking and drug abuse as the arm of the law will definitely catch up with them,” he said.
