Decomposed Body Of A Child Who Went Missing Found In Kafubu River

POLICE on the Copperbelt province have instituted investigations into the death of a seven year old child discovered in Kafubu river.

This comes after the body of the girl who was reported missing a month ago was found in the Kafubu river of Ndola in a decomposed state by a fisher man.
Prosperina Mpundu is said to have gone missing from home last month on July 3rd at 17:00 hours and her body was found on Monday at 08:30 hours in Kafubu river.
Police have since instituted investigations in the matter as the case has been recorded as that of a suspected murder case.
Copperbelt Province Commanding officer Sharon Zulu said police received a report from a fisher man Manix Chiyomba aged 20 who reported that whilist fishing in the Kafubu river, he came across a decomposed body of an unknown child.
“Facts of the matter are that, on July 8th last month a report of “Missing Person” was recorded at Mapalo Police Post by Rachael Mwaba aged 30 of Ndola’s Mapalo area who reported that her daughter Prosperina Mpundu aged 7 went missing on July 3rd last month at 17:00hrs. Surprisingly yesterday, at 08:30hours Manix Chiyimba went fishing, in Kafubu river, and came across a decomposed body of the child and he reported the matter to the Police,” she said.
Ms Zulu said Police summoned the deceased child’s mother Ms Mwaba in connection to case of a missing person which was reported almost a month ago and visited the scene together.
“They discovered a decomposed body and a pair of slippers at the scene. The deceased’s body was putting on a grey/ black dress which Rachael Mwaba identified to be for her daughter .Postmortem is yet to be conducted at the scene as the body is in a bad state,” she said.
She added that an inquiry file has been opened and investigations are on going.
