Miles Sampa Withdraws From Mayoral Position To File For Matero Constituency

Lusaka Mayor Miles Sampa yesterday withdrew his application to be adopted as Lusaka Mayor in the 2021 General Election under the ruling part PF to contest as Matero Mp.

In his application letter addressed to the party, Mr Sampa said he stood on the PF ticket in 2011 and was area Member of Parliament until 2016.

“I refer to the recent advert inviting applications to stand as Mp candidates in the August 12 general elections. Please find attached my CV, ECZ certified grade 12 certificate and the K500 application fee. I submit for your kind consideration,” reads the letter.

Yesterday, the former Matero MP made a sudden U-turn when he withdrew his application to re-contest the position of Mayor of Lusaka.

“On March 12 and 16, 2021, I lodged in my application with Lusaka PF District and Provincial offices to re-contest as Mayor of the City of Lusaka in the upcoming August 12, General Elections. I attach herewith a copies of the said application letter for your ease of reference.

After further consultations with my wife, my mother, my children, my sisters, my brothers, my extended family and my friends, I wish to withdraw the aforementioned application forthwith, Mr Sampa said.

Mr Sampa joins Dickson Jere, who is former special assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations under former president Rupiah Banda in jostling for adoption on the PF ticket.
