MoH Has Admitted Distributing Defective Health Kits

Ministry of Health has admitted distributing defective Health Kits to the public which were supplied by Honey Bee Pharmacy at a total cost of 17 million dollars.

The majority of the drugs which are still being given to the public have no certificate of validation.

When asked on who authorized the distribution of the drugs during the sitting of the public account committee chaired by Howard Kunda, ZAMRA director for laboratory services Bonaventure Chilindi disclosed that it was through the office of the Ministry of Health, Permanent Secretary administration Kakulubelwa Mulalelo under the supervision of the Health Minister Dr. Chitalu Chilufya.

Among the health Kits distributed includes paracetamols and 16,000 condoms, all being substandard.

Meanwhile, the committee has also heard how expeditiously Honey Bee Pharmacy was given a license within a day to supply drugs without proper documentation amidst a recommendation from the Auditor General advising otherwise.
