Police Confirm Arresting Two Suspected Online Scammers Found With 25 Sim Cards

POLICE have arrested two suspected scammers who have been impersonating various business houses and people on pretext that they sale various products online when in fact not.
The suspects who have been identified as Paul Kawewe aged 21 and Mulemwa Mulemwa aged 22 both of Mtendere compound in Lusaka have allegedly been extorting and Obtaining Money by False Pretenses contrary to Section 309 Chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.
Police deputy Public Relations officer Danny Mwale said in a statement, that Zambia Police working together with the Zambia Information and Technology Authority (ZICTA) recently conducted a joint operation in which the two suspects were nabbed.
The two, who were found in possession of twenty-five different SIM cards are suspected to have been involved in multiple cyber related financial crimes by impersonating people on various social media platforms through advertising fake products online.
“They are currently in Police Custody awaiting court appearance,” Mr Mwale said.
