POLICE GUN DOWN SUSPECTED CRIMINAL AS OTHERS FLEE

Police in Nakonde have shot one suspected criminal believed to be behind a spate of aggravated robberies.

Six other suspects fled the scene upon police firing warning shots.

Muchinga Province Police Commissioner, Kaunda Mubanga says the suspect was shot as he tried to escape from Police.

He says Police were responding to a tip off by a member of the community who reported that they were 7 suspects sharing proceeds after a staged robbery in an uncompleted building in Chiyanga village.

Mr. Mubanga tells Nakonde Radio FM News that the suspect is currently at Nakonde District Hospital but, is in a critical condition as he sustained three gunshot wounds on the right knee, left side of the chest and the stomach.

He says after conducting a search a maroon laptop bag was found in his possession including one pistol and two live ammunitions with two empty cartilages and other assorted items.

Mr. Mubanga adds that Investigation have since started.
