FORMER Tourism minister Ronald Chitotela has been sued in the Lusaka High Court by AZADI Investment Limited, claiming K6.5 million as balance for the construction of his house in Chongwe.
And AZADI is seeking an order in the alternative that Mr Chitotela’s property number CHONG/LN_21188/51 Chongwe District be sold for the company to recover its money.
In a statement of claim filed in court, AZADI Investment stated that it entered into a construction contract with Chitotela on August 11, 2018 for the construction of a residential house situate at property No.
“The plaintiff will aver and prove at trial with written documents that the total contract sum which was due after the construction of the house was Nine Million Six Hundred and Fifty Thousand Kwacha (ZMW9,650,000.00) plus the corresponding Value Added Tax (hereinafter called “VAT”),” the plaintiff stated AZADI stated that Mr Chitotela only paid K3,150,000.00 and the balance of K6,500,000,00 and the corresponding VAT has remained unpaid to date and no reason has been furnished for failure to pay the balance.
The plaintiff is demanding payment of the balance with corresponding VAT or in the alternative, an order that the property be sold.
