Second Batch Of Zambian Students From China To Return Back Home By Next Week

Zambia’s Ambassador to China, Winnie Chibesakunda says the second batch of Zambian students and others from the SADC region who were studying in that country are expected back on the second charter operated by Rwanda Air on 2nd August 2020.

Ambassador Chibesakunda also commended the Chinese Government for taking care of the foreign students through the universities.

In a statement issued by her First Secretary for Education Nambula Wamulungwe, Ambassador Chibesakunda said no single Zambian student had contracted the virus in China.

She said the same flights repatriation Zambian students back in the country will also be carrying Chinese nationals from Zambia who are returning home.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Chibesakunda said the Chinese Government through the Chinese Scholarship Council is still making arrangements for the return of students on Chinese government scholarship who graduated this year in line with the bilateral agreement on education cooperation between Zambia and China.

She also explained that Zambia currently has over 4,000 students studying in China.

Yesterday 200 Students arrived home aboard Air Rwanda after being stuck in China since the Covid-19 Pandemic broke out.
