Suspected UPND Cadres Gruesome Murder Two Pf Cadres In Kanyama

A Clash between supporters of Zambia’s two biggest political parties, the UPND and PF has ended in death of two ruling party members of Lusaka’s Kanyama Compound yesterday.

Known in some circles as Siamese twins feeding from the same umbilical cord of political violence, about 30 PF supporters attempted to disperse a so-called UPND Command Centre in Kanyama Constituency after they accused the occupants of harrasing PF members and tearing down campaign posters.

However, the operation turned ugly as the UPND ferried in reinforcements and the two groups clashed using machetes and other offensive weapons. After being outnumbered, the majority of PF cadres chose to withdraw resulting in the gruesome killing of two cadres who had were at the tail of the retreating PF cadres.

Several others are critically injured and admitted to the UTH ICU with life threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, at about midnight, the Zambia Army deployed in Kanyama and Chibolya compound to restore calm. By press time, the situation was still tense as about 500 PF cadres gathered in Kanyama singing and chanting that they will avenge their dead colleagues.

In confirming the development, Charity Katanga, the Deputy Police IG identified the dead as Danny Chingangu and another known as Kenny.
