TWO men from Lusaka’s Matero township have been detained for aggravated robbery.
Humphrey Kasemene aged 29 and John Mangemba, 32, are said to have stolen a phone valued at K1, 200 from Alex Bupe, 25, of Mutendere Compound.
Police Public Relations Officer, Rae Hamoonga, explains that on 6th December, 2023 around 14:45 hours along Roan Road in Kabulonga, the duo who were in a black Toyota Mark X came from behind and hit the victim with a side view mirror.
He states that thereafter, one of the two occupants came out of the car and forcefully grabbed the phone from the victim and attempted to speed off.
Hamoonga notes that fortunately, few meters away from the scene, the vehicle lost control and went in the drainage, with the victim then calling for help and members of the public apprehended the two occupants and recovered the stolen phone.
The suspects were taken to Kabulonga Police Post and soon after, Officers from the flying squad rushed to the scene where they said a vehicle with two number plates with BAB 3391 placed on top of BLA 9253 was retrieved.
