Vehicle Carrying Dead Body Kills Two People In Road Accident

A MOTOR vehicle carrying a dead body was yesterday involved in a road traffic accident in which two people died while five others were injured.
Copperbelt province acting commanding officer Tresphord Kasale said in a statement that the accident happened on Chingola-Kitwe road near Mount Meru service station.
He said the accident happened when the motor which was ferrying the dead body to Kitwe for burial lost control due to excessive speed.
Mr Kasale said the motor vehicle was driven by Sebastian Muma 27, who sustained a cut on his head and general body pains and is admitted to Nchanga North General Hospital.
He said on board were seven passengers with two unidentified females aged between 45 and 55 who sustained multiple injuries and died upon arrival at the hospital.
“The two bodies are in Nchanga North General Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem while the five injured passengers are all are admitted to Nchanga North General Hospital,” he said.
Mr Kasale said the dead body has since been put back in Nchanga North General Hospital mortuary.
