ZESCO To Institute Load Management Due To Reduction In Power Generation

ZESCO Limited says it will institute load management following the reduction of generation capacity at the Kariba North Bank and Kafue Gorge power stations due to a fault.
According to a statement made available by the company’s Public Relations Department, it is projected that the outage will continue until the 7th of November 2021 when the repair works will be concluded.
“ZESCO limited has today, 29 October 2021, taken out one generating unit at Kariba North Bank Power Station and another one at Kafue Gorge Upper Power station due to faults on each of the units which has resulted in a power deficit of 250MW,” the statement read
It further noted that the deficit will affect power supply during peak period and will result in load management in some parts of the country from 18:30 hours to 21:00 hours daily to ensure system stability.
